Meet The Band

Micah Reed has spent years in different church orchestras and bands honing his craft. "He is an expert at finding the elusive,'pocket' that all musicians are looking for." "When people are clapping their hands or stomping their feet, it's because of what Micah is doing on the drum kit. Though Micah is the most soft spoken member of the band, he proves the old adage, "Still water runs deep." "One only needs to hear him pray to realize just how deep his commitment and how genuine his relationship with Christ is.

Dave is not only a minister and musician but has also served as a foreign missionary. "David has an Andrew ministry," Lee explains, "While people like Peter and Paul were busy ministering to the crowds Andrew was more comfortable ministering one-on-one. He was the one who found the boy with the loaves and fishes and that's just the way Dave ministers. He is very relationship oriented and can always be seen at the table after the concerts ministering one-on-one with whoever needs a word of encouragement. Often it's me, or another member of the band."

Steve McElyea, or "Stevie Mac" as he is often called, is the most experienced member of the group, having spent several years as pianist for the Imperials. Steve has also played with many other groups, including, Petra , Amy Grant and even spent five years as country music legend Ronnie Milsap's band leader. Steve says, "While I enjoyed the music and the experience of working with (Ronnie) Milsap I was never really satisfied playing anything but gospel music. I know that I was put here to play for Christ." Steve is an ordained minister and has served as a worship leader in churches all across the country and has, literally, performed all over the world.

The newest, and by far the prettiest, member of the LJB is Lori Atkinson McElyea. Lori has been around, almost from the beginning. As the wife of keyboardist extraordinaire, Steve McElyea, Lori has always supported the band in any and every way. Whether it be working the merchandise table or leading the cheering section. But Lori is a gifted vocalist and keyboardist in her own right and has performed with numerous groups. She and husband Steve along with Lee have performed together in praise teams in their local church. And because of her great sense of humor and her most appreciated gift of encouragement, it just seemed like a no brainer to make her a part of the band. Her great harmonies and the new dimension of having a second keyboard has broadened the horizons of possibilities for future arrangements and make it possible to truly reproduce the CD recordings live on stage. And Lori's spiritual commitment and personal
